And everyone who has told you that if all you do is game on this thing, you won't miss it if you want to save the cash. Probably the only difference is richness in color. The color difference between the two panels is negligible. And they didn't bat an eye when I wanted to return the PG278QR. Microcenter's PG279Q stock seems pretty reliable now. People are going to disagree with me, and that's okay, but I've owned both panels in the last 12 hours and wanted to offer my takeaway insights (and they are subjective and anecdotal). I'm simply floored it worked out so well.īut let me break this down to brass tacks. I mean, this is on par with every IPS experience I've had in the past. Just IPS glow in the corners, which is minimal at best. I took the risk this morning and traded it in for a PG279Q. I could mitigate it to the point where it was barely a concern, but you could still see it, and frankly, I don't want to be staring at that for the next 3-4 years. The only thing that bugged me was gradient color banding. I originally bought a PG278QR and let me tell you, it games like a dream. I live about 5 minutes from the "main" Microcenter in the US in Ohio. It only happens at 390hz because at 360hz it is fine with no flickering.Just wanted to add myself to the growing anecdotal knowledge base of purchase experiences here to assist others. It stops flickering when I turn off the monitor, but when I turn it on after 1 min it starts again. I thought it fixed it then after 1 min it started flickering again. I purchase the club3d displayport cable that was recommended here. That worked fine for me because I don't use GSYNC anyway. It was fixed by disabling GSYNC and updating the drivers. However, on my other 240 Hz monitor I was having flickering issues when a GPU-accelerated application was open. I have been running the monitor for months using a third-party cable and have had no issues whatsoever. I would say it's either the cable or a GSYNC bug. I am currently using a XL2546k without any problems. It happens a lot when I have a browser open. I went to microcenter and replaced it with another one and it is still having the same problem as in the video.
